2. Objective

The objective of the European Keto Foundation is to promote knowledge of ketogenic nutrition and ketogenic interventions as metabolic therapy within a societal, medical and scientific context. The foundation aims to contribute to prevention, public health and societal knowledge development, without any commercial purpose.

3. Vision and Mission

Vision
The science is clear; the challenge is everyday life. We envision a Europe where evidence-based ketogenic nutrition is simple, safe, and supported in practice. The foundation strives for a society in which scientifically substantiated knowledge of ketogenic nutrition is widely accessible and responsibly applied within healthcare, science and society.

Mission
The European Keto Foundation advances excellence and integrity in the field of ketogenic diet implementation through professional education and public trust initiatives. Guided by our Medical and Scientific Committee, we disseminate evidence-based standards that ensure the quality, safety, and efficacy of products, educational programs, and practitioner practices related to ketogenic diets. We are dedicated to promoting informed care, responsible innovation, and lifelong learning among practitioners and organizations working within this discipline. Through transparent certification processes, continuing education, and community collaboration, the foundation safeguards both professional competence and public well-being in the rapidly evolving landscape of ketogenic therapies.

4. Policy principles

The foundation pursues its objectives through: collecting, developing and disseminating reliable knowledge stimulating scientific research and debate organising educational activities publishing guidelines, articles and educational materials encouraging collaboration between scientists, healthcare professionals and societal organisations

At least 90 percent of the foundation’s activities serve the general public interest.

5. Activities

The foundation organizes and supports:

  • Public lectures, symposia and conferences
  • Scientific research and knowledge development
  • Publication of articles, reports and educational materials
  • Workshops and courses with a primary educational and non-commercial character
  • Publicly accessible knowledge resources

6. Target group and public benefit

The foundation focuses on:

  • The general public
  • Healthcare professionals and scientists
  • Policy makers and societal organisations
All outcomes are publicly accessible and do not benefit a closed or private group.

7. Financial policy

The foundation derives its income from:

  • Donations and gifts
  • Subsidies
  • Other contributions consistent with the objective

Funds are used for:
  • Educational activities
  • Knowledge development and publications
  • Support of research
  • Organizational costs directly related to the objective

The foundation has no profit motive and distributes no funds to founders or board members.

8. Remuneration policy

Board members receive no remuneration.
Reimbursement of actual expenses is permitted within legal limits.

9. Assets and dissolution

Assets are managed in accordance with the foundation’s objective. Upon dissolution, any remaining assets will be transferred to an ANBI or a comparable foreign public benefit organisation with a similar objective.
